Iguazú Falls & Jungle Life

INCLUDED 4-NIGHT LAND PROGRAMME

Cultural Encounter in Brazil's Enchanting Jungle

Behold the hundreds of thundering cascades, including roaring Devil’s Throat, that comprise Iguazú Falls, and see firsthand the diversity of Brazil’s culture in a jungle community of indigenous Guarani.

DAY 1

After flying into the Ezeiza International Airport in Buenos Aires, you will be met near the luggage claim area and transferred to your hotel for the night. The day and evening will be at leisure.

DAY 2

Following breakfast at the hotel, you will transfer to the domestic airport for the flight to Iguazú.

After flying into the Iguazú airport on the Argentine side of the falls, transfer to the Argentinian side of Iguazú National Park where you will board an eco-train and ride to Devil’s Throat. This monumental natural wonder is where one of the Iguazú River’s widest parts roars over a high cliff and crashes down into a misty pool below. Rainbows are almost always visible in the mist.

Following lunch in the national park, you will travel along the catwalks of the upper and lower circuits, which will present different perspectives of Devil’s Throat.

Later in the day, you will transfer to your hotel on the Brazilian side of the National Park for check in and dinner.

Afterwards, you will stop for lunch at the Brazilian barbeque restaurant Assador Rio or similar venue. The tour will then continue to the Urca district, where you will rise 396 metres (1,300 feet) to the summit of Sugar Loaf Mountain by cable car, while enjoying awe-inspiring views of the harbour below.

In the evening you will drive to the Santa Teresa district for dinner at the tropically designed Tereze Restaurant. Located in the Santa Teresa Hotel, this restaurant offers contemporary cuisine that presents the best of local gastronomy with a Latin American touch.

DAY 3

Following breakfast at the hotel, you will transfer to the Iguazú Falls National Park on the Brazilian side where you will see Devil’s Throat from a different perspective.

Following lunch at the Belmond Das Cataratas Restaurant, enjoy a motorised boat cruise (zodiac adventure ride) which allows you to view the falls from water level and get close enough to feel the spray and energy created by this great mass of falling water. Please note that you may get extremely wet on the zodiacs depending on how close your boat gets to the falls. Along the way, your guide will explain all about the trees, birds, falls and more.

In time, you will walk back to the Belmond Hotel Das Cataratas for the evening. Dinner will be served at the hotel.

DAY 4

Following breakfast at your hotel, check out and proceed to the border to re-enter Argentina.

Once across the border, visit a community of indigenous Guarani people. As you walk the surrounding jungle trails, a member of the community will describe some of the Guarani beliefs and legends. You will also learn how they use medicinal plants to naturally treat illnesses.

In time, you will visit a temple deeper in the jungle and learn about Guarani rituals of initiation and baptism. To enhance your understanding of this special culture, you will also visit homes in the community and see animal traps and traditional crafts made from natural materials.

You will then transfer to the Iguazú airport in Argentina for a return flight to Buenos Aires. A box lunch is provided during the transfer. Upon landing, you will proceed to the hotel where you stayed on Day 1.

This evening, you will be treated to a dinner and tango show at La Ventana Tango Club or similar venue. You can expect an extravaganza as costumed dancers and singers passionately perform to live tango music in the city where this art form originated.

You will then return to the hotel to spend the evening.

DAY 5

After breakfast at the hotel and check out, you will begin an enlightening tour of Buenos Aires. Highlights along the way will include the presidential palace known as Casa Rosada, the colonial town hall and the neoclassical Cathedral, where the remains of national hero General Jose San Martin lie.

Then, it’s on to the neighbourhood La Boca, where you will meander along El Caminito, a street full of expressive brightly coloured buildings. You will also pass through the affluent Palermo neighbourhood and past the Recoleta Cemetery, which holds thousands of grandiose mausoleums including Eva Peron’s. The driving tour will end at the pier, where you will embark the cruise ship.
