  • Straegically located at the end of the Malaysian peninsula, the island nation of Singapore is a modern, thriving metropolis and a true melting pot of cultures. Singapore offers diverse colorful ethnic quarters; a fantastic array of superb cuisines; and a shopping mecca second to none. In many ways Singapore (the name means Lion City) was built by Sir Stamford Raffles. Coming ashore to a tiny fishing village in 1819, through trade treaties and business acumen, he laid the foundation for one of the most amazing urban success stories in history. Today, travelers can embrace exotic sights and sounds as they stroll or ride a trishaw through Chinatown, the Arab Quarter or Little India. Head down to the scenic Boat Quay for unrivaled views of the harbor and stop at one of the many international eateries for a refreshing repast. Shop along famous Orchard Road with its merchandise from every corner of the Pacific Rim; embark on a night safari at the Singapore Zoo or relax in the verdant shade of the Bukit Timah Nature Preserve. Be sure to leave time to try a refreshing Singapore Sling at the bar at Raffles Hotel.

As shore excursions to be offered in this port are not yet confirmed, below is a list of those offered previously. We make every effort to have excursions finalized at least 240 days in advance of sailing, and often sooner, so please check back regularly.

  • Founding Footsteps of Raffles

Discover how the vision of one of Singapore's founding fathers came to fruition during a scenic tour of this historic island. Long ago, Sir Stamford Raffles had a vision of transforming Singapore into a vital international port and trading center for the Far East. This tour will retrace the course of that dream come true.

Depart the pier for a picturesque riverboat ride down the Singapore River. For centuries, the bumboat shuttled goods around Singapore from the trading ships, but today serves to steer us through a kaleidoscope of historic river and harbor images, including the go-down warehouses and shop houses, six British bridges and the gracious buildings of the old waterfront. During your boat ride, you will take in splendid views of these sites, all set against the towering skyline of the business and hotel district.

Visit the Asian Civilizations Museum, located adjacent to the Singapore River at Empress Place. Inside the museum, you can trace the ancestral cultures of Singapore and the region.

No historic trail would be complete without paying homage to the legendary Raffles Hotel, where you will make a short stop before returning to the port. Enjoy this opportunity to wander around the grounds of this historic hotel, make a purchase at the hotel’s gift shop or perhaps you would like to treat yourself to a Singapore Sling (at own expense) at the hotel’s Long Bar.

Please note: Proper dress is required to enter the Raffles Hotel. The hotel management has the sole discretion to permit entry to The Lobby of Raffles Hotel; shorts and bermudas are not allowed. For men, closed shoes with sox are required and for women, sandals and open backs are not allowed to enter the lobby.

You will find intriguing stalls selling all sorts of merchandise such as clothing, leather goods, opera masks and unusual souvenirs.

You will then see a different side of Chinatown from the comfort of a trishaw, a three-wheeled vehicle powered by a cyclist in a side car. This iconic mode of transportation has been used in Singapore since the 1940s. Your destination will be Clarke Quay, where you will board a traditional bumboat and cruise the meandering Singapore River. With the city fully illuminated at night, the views will be spectacular, leaving you with lasting memories of Chinatown as you return to the pier.

  • The Way We Live

Don't miss this unique opportunity to observe and experience the Singaporean lifestyle during a scenic and informative tour of the city.

Visit to the oldest Indian temple in Singapore. You will soon see that many places of worship exist in close proximity to one another when you continue on with a visit to the oldest Buddhist monastery in Singapore - considered a National Monument for its historical and architectural value.

Drive to Toa Payoh, a first generation New Town built in the late 1960s to solve the acute shortage of proper housing in Singapore. Today, 87% of the population lives in a HDB flat. Stroll through the Town Center, where you can mingle with the local people and indulge in a bit of neighborhood shopping in the many stores selling all sorts of merchandise. View the many communal facilities that make the town self-contained, including a bus interchange, sub-way station, schools, clinics, community center, parks, a sports stadium, an indoor sports hall, and a swimming pool complex.

From here you will take a subway for a 5 minute drive to Bishan, a second generation New Town, designed and built in the early 1990’s to accommodate the lifestyle of a more affluent and wealthier population. As a special treat, you will have the opportunity to visit a local Singaporean’s family home.

There are many contrasts between the first and second generation New Towns. The later blocks of second-generation flats are of a more contemporary design and nearly twice the height of the first generation flats. The town center is occupied by a large shopping mall that caters to the shopping and entertainment needs of the whole community, with many other communal facilities located nearby.

Another stop on this tour is Singapore's latest downtown Icon – The Marina Barrage. Built across the mouth of the Marina Channel, the Marina Barrage creates Singapore’s 15th reservoir, and the first in the heart of the city. With a catchment area of 10,000 hectares, or one-sixth the size of Singapore, the Marina catchment is the island’s largest and most urbanized catchment. Together with two other new reservoirs, the Marina Reservoir will boost Singapore’s water catchment from half to two-thirds of the country’s land area. The Marina Barrage is the result of Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew’s vision nearly two decades ago when he envisaged damming the mouth of the Marina Channel to create a freshwater reservoir.

Please note: This tour involves approximately 1.5 hours of walking, mainly over level surfaces.

  • Singapore's Iconic Tour

Explore Singapore's most iconic landmarks, from historical sites to modern day Singapore, by land and by water.

From the pier, you’ll drive to the oldest Taoist Temple, built in 1821. The Thian Hock Keng Temple was once a beachfront temple, but since then, the shoreline has been reclaimed. It is an architectural masterpiece of stone, tiles and wood, dragons and phoenixes, amazing carvings, intricate sculptures and imposing columns.

Next cruise down the Singapore River aboard a river boat; the best way to catch a glimpse of Singaporean history. The river is home to 150 years of commercial activity, and has been at the heart of the growth of an obscure fishing village into a great seaport and metropolis. As you proceed along this bustling waterway, you will see a colorful array of restaurants, wine bars, entertainment venues and retail shops.

Re-board your coach for a sightseeing drive through the Colonial District of Singapore, also known as Old Singapore. Along the way, you will pass by the Padang City Hall, and St. Andrew's Cathedral, and view some of the splendid architecture of bygone eras. You might taste a full-flavored lager brewed with raw black rice, a refreshing wheat beer, or a lager mixed with natural lemon juice or Mandarin Orange juice. Tiger Beers have been produced since 1932 and follow a strict brewing process that takes about 500 hours. It’s a point of distinction that you will clearly taste.

Following the beer sampling, you will drive to Tuas Checkpoint to view the bridge that connects Singapore to Malaysia. The bridge spans the western end of the Johor Strait, the waterway that divides the two countries.

Then, it’s on to Jurong East, a planned residential neighborhood with plenty of attractions to spur future growth. As you drive along, you may see Jurong Lake Park, the Japanese Garden and the Science Centre, which holds the country’s largest collection of scientific materials. Singapore’s first wildlife park, Jurong Bird Park, is another highlight.

After touring Jurong East, you will return to the pier while taking in the urban landscape.

Please note: Tour includes approximately 2-hours of easy walking/standing at the brewery and 20 steps to negotiate. This tour is not recommended for wheel chair guests or those with walking or mobility concerns. Weather-appropriate clothing; and flat, comfortable walking shoes are recommended. This tour must be purchased no later than 3 days prior to the operating date.
