Land Programs & Hotels

  • Experience the extraordinary natural beauty and wildlife of South America during this memorable journey to Iguazú Falls ~ one of the great natural wonders of the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Special Note: Any guests travelling with Portable Oxygen Concentrators (POC) or CPAP breathing machines should read further below for airline stipulations with regards to bringing this equipment on tour.

The majority of this program is wheelchair accessible however the program as a whole can be strenuous for guests with limited mobility. There are flights, on and off coaches, trains, boats and lots of walking. Each person should evaluate his/her own abilities before signing up.

    DAY 1

Arrive at Ezeiza International Airport, Buenos Aires. You are met near the luggage claim area and transferred to your hotel for the night.

The day and evening are at your leisure with all meals on your own.

Check in time is 3:00pm. Although every effort will be made to have the rooms available earlier, this cannot be guaranteed. If you are arriving early you may wish to book an extra night to guarantee immediate check-in.

    Day 2

Due to an early morning flight, breakfast packs will be provided. Settle any incidentals and transfer to the Domestic Airport for a flight to Iguazú.

*We recommend you pack one light overnight bag per person. Allowance: one checked bag per person maximum 15 kg/33lbs and one carry on per person maximum 5kg/11lbs. Any excess luggage will be stored at the hotel in Buenos Aires where you will receive it upon your return.

The name Iguazú means Great Waters in Guarani. At 80m high and 3km wide, the Iguazú Falls span the border between Argentina and Brazil and is made up of many cascades that generate vast sprays of water producing one of the most spectacular waterfalls known to mankind. On this adventure, you will visit the northeastern section of Argentina - an area that is inhabited by over 400 different varieties of birds and marks one of the most beautiful landscapes of the world.

Upon arrival, you will be met by your local guide and then transferred to Iguazú Falls National Park. A buffet lunch will be served at La Selva Restaurant shortly after your arrival.

After lunch, enjoy a motorized boat cruise (zodiacs) which allows you to view the falls from water level and get close enough to feel the spray and energy created by this great mass of falling water. Please note that you will get wet on the zodiacs. Along the way, your guide will explain all about the trees, birds, falls and more. Note: the zodiac loading area is not accessible to wheelchairs. There are approximately 100 steps down / up to reach the boats with no ramps. The zodiac tour is optional and any guests wishing to remain ashore can do so. There are shaded areas and benches to sit on throughout the park.

After the zodiac tour, check-in at your hotel and enjoy some free time to relax before dinner.

Dinner is included at the hotel.

    DAY 3

After breakfast at the hotel, settle any incidentals and check out. Return to Iguazú National Park to visit the impressive Garganta del Diablo (Devil’s Throat), where the Iguazú River crashes down almost 80 metres forming many rainbows. You will reach this fantastic sight via a unique train ride - the Eco-Train. Guests will then walk along a 1200-meter footbridge from the train station to the Garganta del Diablo viewing platforms.

The final part of your visit will be a walk along one of the circuits of the National Park (Argentine side) which include catwalks and observation spots.

Return to the hotel for lunch prior to transferring to the airport a return flight to Buenos Aires. Upon arrival in Buenos Aires, you will be met and transferred to your hotel where you will be reunited with any stored luggage.

In the evening you are treated to a dinner and tango show.

    DAY 4

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel. After settling any incidentals and checking out, get acquainted with Buenos Aires on a half day sightseeing tour highlighting the city’s major neighborhoods and attractions. Points of interest along the way are the Main Square Plaza de Mayo surrounded by the Casa Rosada (the Presidential Headquarters), the Cabildo (Colonial Town Hall) and the Cathedral. You will also drive to Caminito and see the colorful roads of La Boca, famous for its multi-color tin houses.

Later drive through the elegant Barrio Norte on your way to the Recoleta Cemetery which is an above ground cemetery lined with mausoleums and statues. Finally, you will visit Palermo with its magnificent mansions and parks.

Your tour will end with a transfer to the pier to embark the ship.

Land Program Details Step by Step:

•Please note: The order of sites visited may vary to avoid congestion. This program is subject to flight confirmations which are beyond our control. All program details including timings and any flights indicated below are approximate, given here for general reference purposes and subject to change. Direct flights are never guaranteed.

•Itineraries with the most up to date details (at the time) will be issued when you are emailed your final cruise documents 21 days prior to sailing. Expected Weather:

Seasons in South America are exactly opposite of those in North America. Rain can fall at any time of the year. A hot and humid climate should be expected during the summer (December-March)

    What to Bring:

Light, loose clothing, comfortable, rubber-soled shoes and a light rain jacket as well as mosquito repellant are recommended. Bring a waterproof coat or poncho for the zodiac ride.

Note: The pathways can be uneven in places, and you are very likely to get wet from the spray of the falls.

    Currency:

The official Argentine currency is the Peso. USD are accepted in most places.

    Electricity:

220 volts A.C. (50 Hz). We recommend bringing your own universal travel adaptor for electric devices.

    Luggage:

As you will be flying on a domestic flight, the luggage restrictions are as follows:

    5kg/11lbs. of carry-on luggage

    15kg / 33lbs. of checked-in luggage

Any excess luggage will be stored at the hotel in Buenos Aires where you will receive it upon your return. Don’t forget to bring any medications, valuables and documents with you.

Carriage of Portable Oxygen Concentrators (POC) or CPAP breathing machines on internal flights per airline regulations (subject to change as each airline has their own regulations)

1.Portable Oxygen Concentrator (POC) - Guests must obtain a Doctor’s Certificate mentioning their medical condition and the need to carry a POC. Further paperwork may be required by the airline.

2.CPAP Machine NOT being used in flight – please advise RSSC at least 95 days before your cruise if you will bring a CPAP on the internal flight(s) used in this land program. Please supply the make, model and battery type.

3.CPAP Machine to be used during flight – same as above + a doctor’s note is required mentioning the need to use the machine during flight.

*Guests are required to bring with them any details from the manufacturer regarding the CPAP specifications. While most modern CPAP machines are FAA-approved for in-flight use, having a copy of your manufacturer’s FAA-approval status will help to quickly clear any confusion that may arise.

    * Failure to provide the above details in a timely manner may result in a denial of this equipment at the airport for which Regent Seven Seas Cruises nor our local ground operator will be responsible for.

*Some hotels do not provide distilled water. While we can certainly request this for you, we cannot guarantee that it will be available. If received in a timely manner, requests will be sent on the final manifest that our ground operators and hotels receive. We highly recommend packing your own supply especially on programs that travel to more remote locations in order to avoid not having it. Please keep in mind the rule for liquids in carry-on bags. Many hotels will charge for distilled water. If there is a fee, this will be added to your hotel incidental account to be paid at check-out. Fees will vary from hotel to hotel.

Possible Aircraft types (subject to change):

    Boeing 737/800 (116-134 seats)

    Airbus 320 (120-180 seats)

    Boeing 737/700 (136 seats)

Upgrades not available in advance on group bookings

    Documents and Visa Requirements:

This program takes place within Argentina.

A passport that is valid at least 6 months after travel is required.

Please check with your local embassy for any visa requirements for your nationality.

Please ensure that RSSC has your passport details within 95 days of sailing so that the internal flight tickets can be purchased.

VERY IMPORTANT – The name on your cruise booking, passport and any visas if required, must all be exactly the same for flight ticket purchase otherwise guests may be denied travel by flight. Please ensure that all documents are identical in spelling to the names provided for your cruise reservation including first, middle and last name. Manifests generated by the cruise line must match your travel documents.

Failure to have the required documents ahead of time will result in denial of travel and guests will have to pay for any expenses incurred in order to not proceed with the program.

  • Experience Buenos Aires like a local porteño by watching a traditional tango performance, visiting atmospheric neighborhoods and enjoying an Argentine asado of grilled meats at country ranch.

    DAY 1

Following disembarkation, you will begin a half-day sightseeing tour of Buenos Aires, starting in the neighborhood La Boca, where you will view El Caminito, a street that is an open-air museum of sorts full of brightly colored buildings. Some claim the tango originated here around 1870, and tango dancers are often seen performing impromptu in the streets.

Continuing on, you will pass the city hall and Metropolitan Cathedral, which is adorned with frescoes and elaborate artwork. You will also see Casa Rosado, the executive mansion. President Juan Peron and his wife Eva, more affectionately known as Evita, delivered numerous speeches from the balcony.

Then, it’s on to the affluent La Recoleta neighborhood and the Recoleta Cemetery, the final resting place for Argentina’s wealthy and powerful. It holds thousands of grandiose mausoleums containing the remains of generals, sports figures and most famously Evita.

A snack at Café Tortoni follows. This historic cafe has served as the artistic and intellectual capital of Buenos Aires since 1858, hosting notable guests such as Argentine author Jorge Luis Borges. Founded in 1858, the café is the oldest coffee shop in the country.

After touring the city, you will transfer to your hotel where the remainder of the day will be at your leisure. Lunch and dinner will be on your own.

    Day 2

Following breakfast at the hotel, you will spend the day at a traditional estancia ranch in the countryside, a beautiful land that is home to the gaucho. The owners will be your hosts, and during your stay they will regale you with stories about the differences between modern country life and country life years ago.

Lunch will be a hearty asado of grilled meats with empanadas, accompanied by excellent Argentinean wines.

The entertainment will be just as outstanding. You will enjoy folk songs and dances, equestrian activities and an extraordinary demonstration of traditional gaucho skills, such as ring races and horse races and games.

Following your time at the estancia, you will return to the hotel to spend the evening. Dinner will be on your own.

    DAY 3

Following breakfast at the hotel, you will spend most of the daylight hours as you please. The hotel is centrally located in Buenos Aires, and there is plenty to enjoy nearby, including museums, shops and restaurants.

Your evening will be spent watching an authentic tango performance over dinner. Although the exact origin of the tango is unclear, there is no denying that the sultry dance is mesmerizing. The rhythmic music and mournful lyrics are just as alluring, as they often tell a story of lust, betrayal and loneliness. You don’t have to speak the language to feel the passion of tango.

After the tango performance, you will return to the hotel for the evening.

    DAY 4

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel before checking out (by 12nn) and transferring to the Ezeiza International Airport for your flight home. Transfers will be set up based on the flight details provided. Should you have a late flight, luggage storage is available at the hotel.
