Description

Appreciate an enchanting village clinging to the side of a caldera and visit a popular winery on this engaging tour. Gain valuable insight into the production of Santorini’s most renowned vintages during your guided exploration of a specially selected winery. You’ll learn that the volcanic composition of the island’s soil, scant rainfall and strong winds contribute to the terroir that lends Santorini’s grapes their unique characteristics. After your tour, relax and participate in a tasting of some of the winery’s most notable selections.

Settle in for a scenic coach ride to Oia, a quaint village once home to wealthy seafarers that is built on the dramatically steep slope of a now-submerged caldera formed in a volcanic eruption around 3,500 years ago. You’ll discover aged, two-story mansions painted in soothing pastel colors and homes nestled in niches hewn into the volcanic rock. Stroll through Oia’s narrow, cobbled streets and find myriad tiny shops that offer an enticing collection of handmade ceramics, paintings and semi-precious jewelry. You’ll enjoy time on your own to wander this captivating hamlet, perhaps catching a glimpse of Nea Kameni, an active volcano, and Santorini’s capital of Fira from a quaint café at the cliff’s edge.
