The Way the Caribbean
Was Meant to Be Cruised

By: Regent Seven Seas Cruises

Head ashore with ease and begin your excursions quickly.

As I have sailed on each one of our beautiful ships, I’ve come to realize that their size offers us a wonderful advantage in not only reaching new destinations, but also organizing meaningful and immersive tours. And when you pair our perfectly sized ships with the idyllic islands of the Caribbean, you get the perfect blend.

The Way the Caribbean Was Meant to Be Cruised

UNDER-THE-RADAR-ISLANDS
The World’s Most Luxurious Fleet™ is just the right size for cruising around the Caribbean islands. Their agility allows us to call on more exclusive islands that larger cruise ships are just unable to visit. The island of St. Barts, for instance, has long been one of the most desired Caribbean islands to visit and somewhere that the larger ships would not be able to call as the facilities ashore would be overwhelmed with the number of guests. We can explore the island and still experience some of the remote and beautiful beaches and sites without the feeling of overcrowding.

CLOSE TO HOME
Another advantage is that their small size allows us to dock in some of the piers closer to the center of the town, away from the large tourist ports that are often found in many of the islands. It’s a great feeling when you return from a day of exploring and have your ship so close. And when we do happen to have one of those mega ships close by, it’s great to see our guests head straight onboard, as compared to the queue of hundreds of people waiting to board their ship under the hot Caribbean sun. This isn’t just the case for returning to the ship either. With a much smaller number of guests, you are able to head ashore with ease avoiding long lines on board and begin your excursions quickly.

CROWD-FREE CARIBBEAN
Touring the Caribbean often means having to negotiate places overcrowded with tourists because operators have to find large areas capable of coping with a large number of guests who want to explore the same area. With a much smaller group of guests, operators are able to source locations around the islands which are much more exclusive and away from these overpopulated areas. The same can also be said for transport to get to these areas. Instead of having to book a large catamaran capable of holding 100 or more people, smaller vessels can be sourced, allowing for a more private and exclusive experience.

RECOMMENDED SHORESIDE EXPERIENCES
If you are planning on sailing to the Caribbean, then I thoroughly recommend the Sailing the Leeward Coast excursion in Gustavia, St. Barts. The sailing boats hold a maximum of 16 guests each and allow guests to view the wonderful coastline of the islands from the comfort of a real sailing vessel. Alternatively, another very popular experience is the Champagne and Lobster Catamaran Cruise in St. Johns, Antigua. What better way to relax on board a catamaran than to be served champagne and lobster as you sail around the island? For a more adventurous option, don’t miss out on the Americas Cup 12 Meter Challenge in Philipsburg, St. Maarten. Guests race real racing boats and are encouraged to participate in the running of the vessel. A truly exhilarating experience!

You can also ask one of our talented onboard Destination Services team members to arrange a private shore excursion in the Caribbean. In the past we have arranged a private family picnic on a secluded beach and procured a private helicopter ride around the destination, giving a truly unique perspective of the island. Our aim is to make your time ashore exactly that: YOURS.
