Upon arrival at Narita or Haneda International Airport in Tokyo, you will be met outside of Customs and baggage claim and transferred by private vehicle to your hotel, where the remainder of the day is yours to enjoy at leisure.

Check-in begins at 3:00pm. If you arrive earlier in the day, you may wish to reserve an additional night to guarantee immediate room access or simply leave your luggage with Reception and begin enjoying the hotel’s amenities.

Begin with a glimpse of the world-famous Shibuya Crossing, the city’s electrifying crossroads and a symbol of modern Tokyo’s pulse, where waves of pedestrian’s stream beneath a skyline of towering screens and neon. Continue to the Imperial Palace Plaza, the dignified former site of Edo Castle, where elegant stone walls and the iconic Nijubashi Bridge reflect the enduring legacy of Japan’s imperial past.

From there, step into the serenity of Meiji Shrine, one of Tokyo’s most revered sanctuaries, set within a vast evergreen forest that offers a rare sense of stillness in the heart of the city. The shaded pathways and towering trees create a tranquil retreat, inviting a quiet moment of reflection amid the capital’s dynamic rhythm. The day concludes in atmospheric Asakusa, where old Tokyo reveals itself in its most enchanting form. Here, visit Senso-ji, the city’s oldest and most beloved Buddhist temple, where vivid vermilion gates and lanterns frame a setting steeped in devotion and history. Stroll along lively Nakamise Street, lined with traditional shops offering artisanal crafts and classic Japanese sweets, and soak in the nostalgic charm of a district that still echoes the spirit of the Edo period.

Special Notes:

Guests may be divided into two groups due to restaurant capacity, and the order of visits may vary to ease congestion. Please also note that a walk of approximately 10 to 15 minutes is required from the bus parking area to Asakusa, and guests will not be permitted to remain on the bus during the visit due to local regulations.

Guests should bring one smaller sized suitcase with them on the bullet train and a carry on size bag. Before departing the hotel in the morning, kindly place any excess luggage not accompanying you on the train in the hallway outside your door by 7:30am. Continue to Ryogoku Kokugikan, the revered heart of Japan’s sumo world and the iconic venue that hosts Tokyo’s grand tournaments three times each year. This celebrated arena stands as a modern-day shrine to the sport, where generations of champions have competed beneath its distinctive roof.

Outside, soak in the atmosphere of a district deeply entwined with sumo heritage before visiting nearby Ryogoku Station, where Edo-era inspiration meets contemporary design. With its traditional detailing and striking full-size sumo ring display, the station offers a vivid sense of place and an evocative final glimpse into the world of old Tokyo.

Later, board the famed JR bullet train for a swift and stylish journey from Tokyo to Kyoto, a seamless passage that perfectly reflects Japan’s celebrated blend of innovation and precision. As the scenery shifts beyond the window, arrive in Kyoto by early evening and transfer to your hotel, where a more tranquil and timeless side of Japan awaits.

DAY 4

After breakfast, check out of your hotel and set out to discover two of Kyoto’s most iconic and deeply atmospheric landmarks before continuing to Kobe for embarkation.

Begin at Kiyomizu-dera, one of Kyoto’s most celebrated temples and a UNESCO World Heritage site, dramatically set on the wooded slopes of the eastern hills. Originally founded in 780 and rebuilt over the centuries, the temple is renowned for its remarkable wooden stage, which projects from the main hall without the use of nails and offers sweeping views across Kyoto. Below, the sacred Otowa Waterfall flows in three slender streams, each traditionally associated with blessings of longevity, success, and love, adding a layer of spiritual symbolism to this serene and storied setting.

Continue to Fushimi Inari Taisha, one of Japan’s most important Shinto shrines and among the country’s most unforgettable sights. Dedicated to Inari, the deity of rice and prosperity, the shrine is famed for its seemingly endless procession of vermilion torii gates that wind up the forested slopes of Mount Inari in a mesmerizing tunnel of color.

Founded in 711, this sacred site is both visually striking and deeply symbolic, with centuries of devotion reflected in every gate, shrine, and pathway. The grand Romon Gate, donated by the legendary samurai leader Toyotomi Hideyoshi in 1589, lends yet another layer of history to this extraordinary place.

Following breakfast, meet your guide and explore Osaka, a city with a rich merchant history and long known as “the nation’s kitchen” for its role as a center of trade and commerce.

Begin at the Osaka Museum of Housing and Living, where detailed reconstructions bring to life the streets and homes of the Edo period (1603–1868). Walk through recreated neighborhoods and observe how townspeople once lived, shopped, and interacted.

Continue to Tenjinbashi-suji Shopping Street, Japan’s longest covered shopping arcade, stretching nearly 3 kilometers. Originally developed as an approach to nearby Tenmangu Shrine, it remains a lively hub filled with local shops, eateries, and traditional businesses.

Conclude your tour at Osaka Castle, first built in the late 16th century by Toyotomi Hideyoshi, one of Japan’s great unifiers. The castle played a pivotal role in the country’s feudal history. Today, its impressive structure, surrounded by massive stone walls and moats, stands as a symbol of Osaka’s historical importance.

Return to your hotel in the afternoon. The evening is at leisure—perhaps take the opportunity to indulge in Osaka’s famed dining scene, celebrated as “the kitchen of Japan.” Lunch and dinner are on your own.

Begin at Fushimi Inari Taisha, a Shinto shrine dating back to the 8th century and dedicated to Inari, the deity of rice, prosperity, and business. Walk through the seemingly endless tunnels of vermilion torii gates—each donated by individuals or companies—creating one of Japan’s most iconic spiritual landscapes.

Continue to Arashiyama, a district that has been a popular retreat since the Heian period (794–1185), when nobles would visit for its natural beauty. This picturesque area remains known for its riverside views and tranquil atmosphere. Here, enjoy a leisurely lunch at a carefully selected local restaurant, highlighting regional flavors and seasonal ingredients.

In the afternoon, visit Kinkaku-ji (Golden Pavilion), originally built in the 14th century as a shogun’s retirement villa before becoming a Zen temple. Please note: Land programs that encompass multiple days ashore customarily include extensive and prolonged activity, while those of shorter durations typically have more moderate activity levels. However, each program varies, and participants should be prepared to negotiate a mixture of surfaces which may include inclines, cobblestones, sand, and gravel or natural paths. There may also be a need to climb steps or stairs on occasion. Guests who utilize a wheelchair and those with mobility concerns are advised to check with the cruise line in advance to see if any portion of the tour program may not be considered suitable for their individual situation. Weather appropriate clothing; hats; sunglasses; and flat, comfortable walking shoes are generally recommended.

Once purchased, pricing is guaranteed and not subject to change. Land Programs must be purchased no later than 90 days prior to your sail date. Cancellations made within 90 days or less prior to the sail date are subject to 100% cancellation penalty. There are no refunds for unused portions of any program.
