Rome and Tivoli Treasures Shore Excursions in Rome and Tivoli
You’ll be whisked away to the Grand Hotel Palace in Rome (or similar hotel) after landing in Rome on Day 1. The remainder of this day is yours to rest, dine on your own and explore the nearby Villa Borghese Park.
After waking up on Day 2 and enjoying a delectable breakfast, you’ll see some of the world’s most beautiful paintings and sculptures at the Vatican Museums and Saint Peter’s Basilica. You’ll even be privy to areas closed to the general public, including the tomb of Pope Pius XII and the Niccoline Chapel, which feature the lives of St. Lawrence and St. Stephen.
After resting and lunching on your own, you’ll enjoy an afternoon panoramic drive of Ancient Rome, including a stop at Trevi Fountain and the picturesque Piazza Navona. Afterward, enjoy some well-earned downtime and dinner on your own.
Another delicious breakfast welcomes you into Day 3, followed by a guided tour of Tivoli—which is noted as the preferred resort to nobles and the Emperor Augustus himself. You’ll then have time to wander through the colorful open-air market to shop for souvenirs, fruits and local products before an unforgettable lunch overlooking the beautiful Villa Gregoriana. Returning to the hotel, you can do as much, or as little, as you want in the remaining hours of the day.
After breakfast is served on Day 4, you’ll check out and transfer to the ship to begin the next part of your adventure—the cruise.
