Mumbai (Bombay), India-port

Mumbai, formerly known as Bombay, is the capital of the Indian state of Maharashtra and the most populous city in the world. This bustling city offers a seemingly endless array of sights and cultural activities, and is the commercial and entertainment capital of India. Mumbai is home to India’s Hindi film and television industry, known as “Bollywood.” Mumbai is also one of the few cities that accommodates a national park, the Sanjay Gandhi National Park, within its city limits.

DAY 1 - December 7th, 2016

After an early disembarkation from the ship in Mumbai, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Delhi. Refreshments and snacks will be served on the flight.

Upon arrival in Delhi you will board a coach and drive via the Yamuna Expressway to Agra. This is a scenic drive with visas of India’s rural farming countryside. The farther you drive, the more India’s vast countryside reveals its beauty. (Packed lunch boxes with soft drinks and water will be served on the bus)

As India’s premier city in the 16th and 17th centuries, Agra became a great center for learning, art, commerce and culture. Today, it is more famous as the site of the white marble Taj Mahal, perhaps the world’s greatest monument to love, certainly for a mausoleum.

On arrival into Agra you will proceed directly to visit the Taj Mahal Monument for sunset.

The Taj Mahal, with its lacy white grandeur, is one of the world’s most recognized monuments. In memory of his wife, the great Mughal emperor Shah Jehan planned this extravagant and incomparable monument, built for love. Amazingly graceful from any angle, the monument is even more astounding close up, where the fine details can truly be appreciated.

After some leisure time back at the hotel, enjoy a Kathak classical dance performance in the hotel ballroom. This dance arose from the fusion of Hindu and Muslim cultures during the Mughal era, and is characterized by rhythmic footwork, spectacular spins, mime and gestures that dramatically represent themes from Persian poetry and Hindu mythology.

A buffet dinner follows the dance performance, after which you will overnight at the ITC Mughal Hotel or similar hotel.

Day 2 December 8th, 2016

Discover the monumental Taj Mahal at dawn. Tea, Coffee, juices and rolls are served in the lobby, prior to your departure. The magical and monumental Taj Mahal is a place of serenity at this time of morning.

Back at the hotel you will enjoy breakfast and then you can decide how you wish to spend the next few hours. The options are:

(A) 10:00am – 12:30pm Visit the Agra Fort, a World Heritage Site credited to Emperor Akbar, India’s great 16th-century visionary. Founded during his reign, this red sandstone fortress encompasses fairy-tale palaces, great halls and two beautiful mosques. Several of the buildings are made of pure marble adorned with artistic carvings.

(B) 10:00am – 12:30pm Visit the Tomb of Itmad-Ud-Daulah in the old city. This was the first Mughal structure pioneering the extensive use of “pietra dura”, the inlay work of marble so characteristic of the Taj Mahal. The skillfully patterned surface of the tomb is exquisite.

(C) 10:00am onwards Hourly shopping shuttle to the marble inlay factory and local markets.

(D) 10:00am – 12:30pm Agra’s leading astrologer is available for consultation. Appointments for an analysis of your personal horoscope can be made at the hospitality desk.

A buffet lunch will be served at the hotel before your departure for Delhi.

In the afternoon you will check out and drive via the Yamuna Expressway to Delhi and check in at

the Oberoi Hotel or similar hotel.

Dinner will be served at the hotel where you will spend the evening at your leisure.
