Botlierskop Private Game Reserve

Most Active or Strenuous Regent Choice

Duration: 4 hours

Tour Code: MOB-002

Drive deep into the African bush on a game drive at a private reserve, where you may spot free-roaming animals such as elephants, lions and giraffe.

Departing from the pier, you will enjoy a leisurely drive inland to the beautiful Botlierskop Private Game Reserve and Safari Park, an area of immense bio-diversity. While the variety of plants and eco-systems attract more than 200 species of birds, the larger creatures such as elephants, lions and giraffe are the true attractions.

Following a welcome drink at the reserve’s Visitors Center, you will spend time interacting with the elephants and even feed them fresh fruit. All the while, the naturalist guide will elaborate on their habits in the wild. Several of the elephants are orphans that were rescued from the Zambezi Valley.

Next, you will board an open 4x4 vehicle and drive deep into the Botlierskop private game reserve. The animals roam freely, so there is no telling what you will see over the next two hours. But it is likely you will experience close encounters with a variety of indigenous creatures that may include white rhinos, mountain zebras, blue wildebeest, impalas and lions. Smaller animals such as honey badgers, porcupines, and rock hyrax are also in abundance.

The vehicles used during your game drive are ideal for viewing, so you can be sure the experience will be inspiring. Afterwards, you will return to the Visitors Center where you will re-board your coach for the drive back to the pier in Mossel Bay.

Please note: This tour is mostly seated aside from walking and standing during the elephant interaction. The roads in the game reserve are gravel and during the game drive you may experience inclines and bumpy conditions. The tour is not available to wheelchair guests and not recommended for those with mobility concerns, back or neck problems. Light colored casual clothing to include a windbreaker; sun cap; sunglasses; sunscreen; binoculars; and flat, comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Minimum age to participate is 6 years of age. In order to avoid disturbing the animals, during the game drive guests are not permitted to use mobile phones, stand on the game vehicles or speak loudly. Smoking is strictly prohibited. Wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed and the lions are housed in a separate enclosed area. The operator requires that all guests sign a waiver before being allowed to participate in the tour.
