The Ancient, Exotic and Dynamic Pacific Rim

Ports and Excursions of Asia/Pacific

Sydney, Australia-port

One of the liveliest, must-see cities of the Pacific Rim, Sydney humbly began life as a British penal colony in 1788. Among the colorful characters in its early history was William Bligh of Mutiny on the Bounty fame who was deposed as governor during the Rum Rebellion of 1808. In 1852, with the discovery of gold in the interior, Sydney became a thriving port of the Victorian Empire. Today, Sydney looks to the future, its skyline crowned by the graceful billowing sails of its famed Opera House. Visitors can get a glimpse of the past along the narrow, twisting streets of the Rocks, Sydney’s restored historical district and for the adventurous, the Sydney bridge climb will reward you with panoramic views of the city and harbor. Excursions can reveal the spectacular, untamed beauty of the Blue Mountains with a ride on the worlds steepest perpendicular railway; or get up close and personal with Australia’s charming wildlife at the Koala Park Sanctuary, then end your day with a refreshing stop at a traditional Aussie pub.

Traveling by coach from the pier, you will pass through Sydney's leafy suburbs en route to Featherdale Wildlife Park. On arrival, one of the personable guides will introduce you to some of the Park's residents, which would include a native dingo and wombat. Ample free time is provided for you to explore this delightful attraction and view the animals and native fauna at your own pace. For a truly great interactive experience with the kangaroos, you may wish to purchase some feed and engage in the fun of hand feeding them. You will even have an opportunity to have your photo taken with one of the cuddly koalas. This photo is optional and at an additional cost. Before leaving the Sanctuary, you will be treated to morning tea.

Please note: This tour is not recommended for wheelchair guests. Those with mobility concerns are cautioned to evaluate their personal level of ability as there is some moderate walking and unpaved and uneven surfaces to negotiate. The order of sights visited may vary and the itinerary may be reversed.
