One of the city's most attractive spots, you will see Copley Square bordered by the architectural wonders of Trinity Church and the Boston Public Library. Continuing through the upscale residential area of Back Bay and along Newbury Street, you will pass a number of upscale boutiques and trendy cafes as you make your way past the Public Garden.   • Old Town Trolley Tour of Boston

    Ride in and around Boston in the comfort of a trolley, the ideal vehicle for viewing the city’s most famous historical landmarks and contemporary destinations.

    After departing from the pier, you will ride an Old Town Trolley through Boston along a circuitous route that passes the city’s most recognizable landmarks. You will see historical sites such as Boston Common, which is America’s oldest park, and contemporary places such as the bar that the TV show “Cheers” popularized.

    Along the way, the trolley conductor will bring Boston’s history to life, weaving together colorful anecdotes, humorous stories, and well-researched historical information. Many of the landmarks you’ll see were prominent during the American Revolution and are on Boston’s Freedom Trail, a route that passes locations of great historical significance.

    The trolley will pass the site of the Boston Tea Party, the celebrated warship “Old Ironsides,” and the Old North Church that served to signal the advancement of British troops with lanterns: “one if by land, two if by sea.”

    Boston’s contemporary sites are just as enticing, including the Boston Red Sox’s home stadium, Fenway Park. Just across the Charles River in the city Cambridge, you will find the esteemed Massachusetts Institute of Technology. And before returning to the pier, you will stop at Faneuil Hall Marketplace and Quincy Market.     Depart the pier for a scenic drive through Boston. Along the way, you will pass Copley Square, Trinity Church, the Boston Public Library, Back Bay, Newbury Street, the Public Gardens, Boston Common, Beacon Hill, and the gold-domed Massachusetts State House. A visit will then be made to the Old North Church, where Paul Revere ordered two lanterns hung in the steeple to signal that the British Redcoats were approaching.

    Next, your drive will continue on to Cambridge. Upon arrival, you will disembark your coach in Harvard Square and then stroll past the hallowed halls of America's oldest and most prestigious university.

    At the conclusion of the tour (for morning departures only), you may opt to return directly to the pier, or be dropped off at Quincy Market/Faneuil Hall and return to the ship at your own expense.

    Walk through Harvard, accompanied by a student guide that will lead you on an insider’s tour of the prestigious university and offer enlightening insights into student life.

    After departing from the pier, you will drive through downtown Boston and soon arrive at Harvard Square, an immensely popular gathering place full of history, shops, theaters and restaurants. There, you will meet a Harvard student that will serve as your guide over the next few hours, leading you through America’s oldest institution of higher education.

    Established in 1636 and named after John Harvard, the college’s first benefactor, Harvard has grown to become one of the world’s most prestigious universities. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a U.S. National Historic Landmark District.

    The university’s official color is crimson, chosen to honor Harvard’s crew team, which wore crimson scarves to distinguish them from the competitors in an 1858 regatta. Through your insider’s tour of Harvard, you will learn all sorts of other fascinating facts about the university, which has produced 47 Nobel Laureates and 48 Pulitzer Prize winners.

    Your tour includes visiting the oldest part of the campus, as well as the more contemporary dormitories, libraries and classrooms, giving you great insight into today’s student life.     On this tour you will visit two of America's national treasures: the John F. Kennedy Library, perhaps the nation's most popular presidential library, and Peacefield, home and library of John Adams and John Quincy Adams. At the Kennedy Library and Museum, you will relax in the comfort of the theater for a 17-minute introductory film narrated in part by JFK. Incorporating historic television footage and cherished family home movies, this film provides the background and family and political accomplishments of the "Camelot" legend.

    Following the presentation, you will have an opportunity to independently explore the museum. Featuring an extensive range of audio-visual displays, you will have an opportunity to stand in a re-creation of the Oval Office and experience the drama of President Kennedy's historic address to the nation concerning Civil Rights, or perhaps capture the inspirational spirit of the space program.

    Then you will continue to the nearby town of Quincy - birthplace of the father and son presidents, John Adams and John Quincy Adams - to visit The Old House lovingly referred to by John Adams as "Peacefield." This elegant plantation residence was home to four generations of the Adams family. First occupied by John Adams in 1788, it once served as the "summer white house" and is filled with original furniture and paintings treasured by the Adams family.
