OVERVIEW

Tour the vineyards of the Talay Winery and sample a selection of premium wines and mezes that reflect the terroir and cuisine, respectively. Two brothers established the winery in 1948 as a Talay family enterprise and over the years they have planted about 20 varieties of grapes in various vineyards in the area. As you meander through one of the vineyards, you will learn about the qualities of the soil, how the prevailing winds influence the grapes and the method for harvesting the grapes, many of which are indigenous. A tasting follows at a restaurant that the Talay family owns in Bozcaada. While discovering even details about the viticulture, you will sample five different wines that will likely include a dry light-colored white made from the native grape Vasilaki. Local cheeses, marinated artichokes, grilled eggplants with tahini and squid ink fish tempura may be among the mezes.

PLEASE NOTE Any allergies must be noted when booking the tour. This tour includes a little walking, mainly at the guest's discretion. Coaches do not have a lift and entering and exiting must be done via stairs. This tour is available to guests who utilize a collapsible wheelchair, can both make their way on and off the coach, and have a companion to assist. Casual, weather-appropriate clothing and comfortable, flat walking shoes are suggested. Those guests with mobility concerns are cautioned to evaluate their level of ability and stamina.
