PRE - GALAPAGOS: THE ENCHANTED ISLES CODE: UIOL12
The Galápagos Islands remain one of the world’s most extraordinary natural destinations — a remote Pacific archipelago where volcanic landscapes, fearless wildlife, and remarkable endemic species reveal nature at its most vivid. This pre-cruise program begins with a full day exploring Quito’s UNESCO-listed historic center and the Equator before continuing to San Cristóbal Island for an immersive Galápagos experience, then onward to Lima for a brief exploration of the historic center before embarkation in Callao.
Special Note: Due to the nature of the day trips on this program, it is not suitable for guests who have walking difficulty or use a wheelchair. Guests must be able to get in and out of small dinghy boats with little to no assistance. Also, any guests travelling with Portable Oxygen Concentrators (POC) or CPAP breathing machines should read further below for airline stipulations with regards to bringing this equipment on tour.
This program begins in Quito, Ecuador therefore your flight must be booked into the Mariscal Sucre International Airport in Quito. Guests will board the ship in Lima, Peru and the international flight to Peru is included in this program.
DAY 1
On arrival at Mariscal Sucre International Airport in Quito, proceed through Immigration formalities, identify and collect your luggage, and clear Customs. After Customs clearance, meet your local representative and transfer by private vehicle into Quito.
Note: Couples or pairs will be transferred by private van or SUV (max 4 large bags total plus 1 carry-on per person); solo guests will use a sedan (2 large suitcases plus a carry-on). Extra luggage may require a larger vehicle at additional cost—notify your RSSC booking agent at least 14 days before sailing with this information. Transfers include a driver only.
Your hotel is located in the modern northern area of the city, offering a comfortable base for the start of the program and convenient access to Quito’s main cultural highlights.
Check-in time is 3:00pm. Although every effort will be made to have your room available before this time, this cannot be guaranteed. Should you have an early arriving flight, you may wish to book an extra night so that your room is ready upon arrival.
Meals are on your own today.
DAY 2
After breakfast, meet your guide for a full-day exploration of Quito and the Equator.
Begin with a visit to the Basílica del Voto Nacional, one of Quito’s most recognizable landmarks. This striking neo-Gothic church is known for its dramatic scale and distinctive architectural details, including gargoyles inspired by native animals of Ecuador.
Continue into Quito’s historic center, among the first sites ever inscribed on UNESCO’s World Heritage List. Visit Independence Square, also known as Plaza Grande, the historic and civic heart of the city. The square is framed by the Cathedral, the Presidential Palace, the Archbishop’s Palace and other important colonial-era buildings.
A short walk brings you to La Compañía de Jesús, one of South America’s most ornate baroque churches, renowned for its intricately carved stone façade and dazzling gold-leafed interior. Continue to San Francisco Plaza and Church, one of the city’s most important religious and architectural landmarks, set in one of the most atmospheric areas of Quito’s historic center.
Lunch will be served at La Vid or similar venue.
This afternoon, continue north to the Equator, where Ecuador takes its name and where you can stand with one foot in each hemisphere. At the Intiñan site, enjoy exhibits, demonstrations and photo opportunities that explore the geographic and cultural significance of the middle of the world.
Return to your hotel in the late afternoon. The evening is at leisure, and dinner is on your own.
DAY 3
After breakfast, meet your guide and transfer to the airport for a flight to San Cristóbal Island in the Galápagos. Note: the flight is not accompanied.
Upon arrival, complete local arrival formalities and meet your Galápagos naturalist guide, who will accompany Regent guests throughout the Galápagos portion of the program. After assistance with luggage, transfer into town and enjoy lunch.
This afternoon, begin your exploration of San Cristóbal Island. Travel into the island’s highlands to visit El Junco, the only permanent freshwater lake in the Galápagos, set within a volcanic crater and often visited by frigatebirds. Continue to the Galapaguera, a tortoise reserve dedicated to the conservation of San Cristóbal’s giant tortoises. Here, learn about the island’s conservation efforts while observing these emblematic animals in a natural setting.
Your tour continues to Puerto Chino, a beautiful white-sand beach reached by a short walk through coastal vegetation. Depending on conditions, this is an ideal place to appreciate the island’s coastal scenery and perhaps spot sea lions, seabirds, or marine iguanas along the shore.
After the visit, transfer to your hotel for check-in. Dinner is included this evening at the hotel.
NOTE: Please pack accordingly for the flight from Quito to the Galapagos. Guests can only check in free of charge one suitcase with a maximum weight of 50 lbs (23 kg). Each guest is also permitted free of charge one carry-on bag with a maximum of 15 lbs (7 kg). Any excess luggage will be stored free of charge in Quito. Guests checking in more than one suitcase or an overweight bag on the flight will need to pay excess or overweight luggage fees at the airport upon check in. Airline policies and fees are subject to change.
DAY 4
Today, enjoy a full-day boat excursion to Española Island, accompanied by your dedicated Galápagos naturalist guide. Lunch will be served on board.
Española is one of the oldest islands in the archipelago and is renowned for its striking landscapes, abundant birdlife, marine iguanas, sea lions, and dramatic coastal scenery. Depending on the final authorized visitor site and local conditions, the day may include walking over natural trails, wildlife observation, coastal exploration, and time for swimming or snorkeling.
Throughout the excursion, your Galápagos naturalist guide will provide interpretation tailored to the Regent group, helping guests better understand the island’s geology, wildlife behavior, endemic species, and conservation significance.
Return to San Cristóbal in the late afternoon. Dinner is included this evening at a local restaurant.
Please Note: Boat tours may be shared with independent guests. Boat navigation in the Galápagos may be rough, and routing is subject to sea conditions, weather, National Park regulations, and local operating permissions.
DAY 5
Today, set out on a second Galápagos boat excursion, accompanied by your dedicated Galápagos naturalist guide. The planned destination is Isla Lobos, with lunch included on board.
Located off the coast of San Cristóbal, Isla Lobos is known for its coastal wildlife and marine life. As its name suggests, sea lions are commonly seen in the area, along with frigatebirds, blue-footed boobies, marine iguanas, and other species characteristic of the archipelago. Depending on conditions, the day may include a guided walk, scenic navigation, wildlife observation, and opportunities for swimming or snorkeling.
This excursion offers a different perspective on the Galápagos, combining coastal scenery, close wildlife encounters, and the chance to observe the interaction between land and marine ecosystems.
Return to your hotel in the afternoon. Dinner is included this evening at the hotel.
DAY 6
After breakfast, transfer to San Cristóbal Airport for your flight back to Quito via Guayaquil. Airport VIP lounge access is included in San Cristóbal, subject to availability and local operating conditions. Note: the flight is not accompanied.
Upon arrival in Quito, meet our local representative and transfer to Casa iLayaku. Overlooking the Tumbaco Valley and the surrounding Andean landscape, Casa iLayaku offers a scenic setting for a late lunch centered on fresh Ecuadorian ingredients, local flavors, and thoughtfully prepared regional cuisine before the onward journey to Peru.
After lunch, return to Quito Airport and check in for your international flight to Lima. Note: the flight is not accompanied.
Upon arrival in Lima, proceed through Immigration formalities, identify and collect your luggage, and clear Customs. After Customs clearance, meet your local representative and transfer to your airport hotel for check-in.
NOTE: Please pack accordingly for the international flight from Quito to Lima. Guests can check in free of charge one suitcase with a maximum weight of 50 lbs / 23 kg. Each guest is also permitted one carry-on bag with a maximum weight of 15 lbs / 7 kg. A second piece of checked luggage per person (per maximum weight listed above) is included in the cost of this program. Should guests need to check in more than 2 pieces or have any overweight luggage on the flight, they will need to pay the airline fees at the airport upon check in. Airline policies and fees are subject to change.
DAY 7
After breakfast, check out and meet your guide for a tour of Lima’s historic center, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its colonial architecture, monumental squares, churches, and traditional wooden balconies.
Begin with a visit to the Plaza Mayor, the historic heart of Lima. The square is framed by some of the city’s most important civic and religious buildings, including the Cathedral of Lima, the Archbishop’s Palace, City Hall, and the Presidential Palace.
Continue with an inside visit to Casa Aliaga, one of Lima’s most remarkable historic residences. Located near the Plaza Mayor, this privately owned colonial mansion has been associated with the same family since the early years of the Spanish foundation of Lima and offers a more intimate look at the city’s colonial heritage, architecture, and domestic life.
After your city tour, transfer to the port of Callao for embarkation.

Expected Weather:
The Galápagos Islands have a subtropical climate influenced by ocean currents, including the cold Humboldt Current and warmer seasonal currents. Weather varies throughout the year. From December through May, conditions are generally warmer, with temperatures often ranging from the low 80s°F / 26°C to the high 80s°F or low 90s°F / approximately 31–32°C, with the possibility of rain. From June through September, temperatures are generally cooler, ranging from the low 60s°F / 15°C to the high 70s°F / approximately 25°C. This is the garúa season, when mist or light drizzle may occur, particularly in the mornings. From October through December, temperatures generally range from the 70s°F / low 20s°C to the low 80s°F / approximately 26°C, with drier conditions.
Quito is located in the Andes at high elevation and has a mild climate year-round. Days are often spring-like, while mornings and evenings may be cool. Guests should be prepared for cooler temperatures in Quito than in the Galápagos, particularly in the evening.
What to Bring:
It is not necessary to carry much to the Galápagos. Pack light and pack smart. Lightweight, breathable, fast-drying materials are recommended.
•Light loose pants, shorts, shirts, including both short- and long-sleeved options
•A windbreaker, light jacket or sweater for evenings, early mornings, boat rides and Quito
•Hat, sunscreen and sunglasses
•Comfortable walking shoes with good traction
•Footwear suitable for wet conditions, such as water shoes or sturdy sandals
•For Galápagos landings, guests may have dry landings, where they step directly from the boat or dinghy onto dry land, and wet landings, where they may need to wade through shallow water to shore. Guests may either bring one pair of hybrid shoes suitable for both walking and getting wet, or one pair of water shoes/sandals and one pair of light walking shoes or sneakers to bring ashore in a backpack
•Swimsuit and small quick-dry towel, if desired
•Small backpack for land visits, camera, personal items and water
•Waterproof bag or dry bag to protect camera, phone or photographic equipment
•Camera or smartphone, plus any chargers, extra batteries or memory cards needed
•Wetsuit, if preferred, though not essential
•Snorkeling gear, if preferred, though not essential
•On board the day-trip boats, snorkeling gear will be available for guests. If you use a fin size smaller than 6–7 or larger than 10–11, we suggest bringing your own, as these sizes may not always be available
•Any required medications
•Seasickness tablets or motion sickness remedies if you are prone to motion sickness on boat
•Binoculars
•Insect repellent
Local Currency: US Dollar
Electricity: Ecuador uses 110-volt, 60-cycle electricity, the same as in the United States. Plugs are typically the two-pronged flat type, so US travelers will not typically need a converter or adapter. If needed, hotels may be able to provide adapters, subject to availability.
Luggage information:
Flights Quito – Galápagos – Quito: Guests can typically check in free of charge one suitcase with a maximum weight of 50 lbs / 23 kg. Each guest is also typically permitted one carry-on bag with a maximum weight of 15 lbs / 7 kg. Any excess luggage will be stored free of charge in Quito. Guests checking in more than one suitcase or an overweight bag on the flights to or from the Galápagos will need to pay any applicable excess or overweight luggage fees at the airport upon check-in.
The average cost is approximately $120 USD per extra suitcase and an additional $120 USD for an overweight bag. Fees are imposed by the airline and are subject to change.
Please ensure that all luggage has your name clearly marked on it. Do not forget to bring all required documents, medications, valuables and essential personal items with you to the Galápagos.
Flight Quito – Lima: Guests can typically check in free of charge one suitcase with a maximum weight of 50 lbs / 23 kg. Each guest is also typically permitted one carry-on bag with a maximum weight of 15 lbs / 7 kg. For this reason, a second piece of checked luggage per person, with a maximum weight of 50 lbs / 23 kg, is included in the cost of this program for the flight from Quito to Lima. Should guests need to check in more than two pieces or have any overweight luggage on this flight, they will need to pay the applicable airline fees at the airport upon check-in.
Carriage of Portable Oxygen Concentrators (POC) or CPAP Breathing Machines on Flights:
Carriage of Portable Oxygen Concentrators or CPAP breathing machines is subject to airline regulations, which may vary by airline and are subject to change.
1.Portable Oxygen Concentrator (POC) - Guests must obtain a Doctor’s Certificate mentioning their medical condition and the need to carry a POC. Further paperwork may be required by the airline.
2.CPAP Machine NOT being used in flight – please advise RSSC at least 95 days before your cruise if you will bring a CPAP on the internal flight(s) used in this land program. Please supply the make, model and battery type.
3.CPAP Machine to be used during flight – same as above + a doctor’s note is required mentioning the need to use the machine during flight.
4.Guests are required to bring with them any details from the manufacturer regarding the CPAP specifications. While most modern CPAP machines are FAA-approved for in-flight use, having a copy of your manufacturer’s FAA-approval status will help to quickly clear any confusion that may arise.
5.Failing to provide the above details in a timely manner may result in a denial of this equipment at the airport for which Regent Seven Seas Cruises nor our local ground operator will be responsible for.
Some hotels do not provide distilled water. While we can certainly request this for you, we cannot guarantee that it will be available. If received in a timely manner, at least 95 days before sailing, requests will be sent on the final manifest that our ground operators and hotels receive. We highly recommend packing your own supply, especially on programs that travel to more remote locations in order to avoid not having it. Please keep in mind the rule for liquids in carry-on bags. Many hotels will charge for distilled water. If there is a fee, this will be added to your hotel incidental account to be paid at check-out. Fees will vary from hotel to hotel.
Documents and Visa Requirements:
•A passport valid for at least six months beyond your travel dates is required.
•Please consult your local embassy to confirm any visa requirements specific to your nationality.
•IMPORTANT – The name on your cruise reservation, passport, and any required visas must match exactly for flight bookings associated with this program. Discrepancies may lead to denial of travel by the airline. Ensure that all documents — including first, middle, and last names — align perfectly with the details on your cruise reservation.
•Guests without the necessary travel documents will be unable to travel and will bear any associated costs.

DAY 3
Today, enjoy a full-day boat excursion to Española Island, accompanied by your dedicated Galápagos naturalist guide.
DAY 4
Today, set out on a second Galápagos boat excursion, accompanied by your dedicated Galápagos naturalist guide.
DAY 5
After breakfast, transfer to San Cristóbal Airport for a flight back to Quito. Airport VIP lounge access is included in San Cristóbal, subject to local availability and operating conditions. Note: the flight is not accompanied.
Upon arrival in Quito, meet our local representative and transfer to your hotel. The remainder of the afternoon is at leisure.
This evening, gather for a farewell dinner at Somos, a contemporary Quito restaurant known for showcasing Ecuadorian ingredients and culinary traditions through a refined, modern lens.
Guests will be reunited with any stored luggage, if applicable.
DAY 6
Breakfast is included this morning before check-out. At the appropriate time, transfer by private vehicle to Mariscal Sucre International Airport for your onward flight home.
Should you have a late flight, you may wish to purchase a day room or an additional night so that your room is available until your departure transfer.

•Small quick-dry towel, if desired
•Small backpack for land visits, camera, personal items and water
•Waterproof bag or dry bag to protect camera, phone or photographic equipment
•Camera or smartphone, plus any chargers, extra batteries or memory cards needed
•Wetsuit, if preferred, though not essential
•Snorkeling gear, if preferred, though not essential
•On board the day-trip boats, snorkeling gear will be available for guests. If you use a fin size smaller than 6–7 or larger than 10–11, we suggest bringing your own, as these sizes may not always be available
•Any required medications
•Seasickness tablets or motion sickness remedies if you are prone to motion sickness on boats
•Binoculars
•Insect repellent
Local Currency: US Dollar
Electricity: Ecuador uses 110-volt, 60-cycle electricity, the same as in the United States. Plugs are typically the two-pronged flat type, so US travelers will not typically need a converter or adapter. If needed, hotels may be able to provide adapters, but we recommend bringing your own as they are subject to availability.
Luggage information:
Flight Lima – Quito: Guests can typically check in free of charge one suitcase with a maximum weight of 50 lbs / 23 kg. Each guest is also typically permitted one carry-on bag with a maximum weight of 15 lbs / 7 kg. For this reason, a second piece of checked luggage per person, with a maximum weight of 50 lbs / 23 kg, is included in the cost of this program for the flight from Lima to Quito. Should guests need to check in more than two pieces or have any overweight luggage on this flight, they will need to pay the applicable airline fees at the airport upon check-in.
Carriage of Portable Oxygen Concentrators (POC) or CPAP Breathing Machines on Flights:
Carriage of Portable Oxygen Concentrators or CPAP breathing machines is subject to airline regulations, which may vary by airline and are subject to change.
•Portable Oxygen Concentrator (POC) - Guests must obtain a Doctor’s Certificate mentioning their medical condition and the need to carry a POC. Further paperwork may be required by the airline.
•CPAP Machine NOT being used in flight – please advise RSSC at least 95 days before your cruise if you will bring a CPAP on the internal flight(s) used in thisland program. Please supply the make, model and battery type.
•CPAP Machine to be used during flight – same as above + a doctor’s note is required mentioning the need to use the machine during flight.
•Guests are required to bring with them any details from the manufacturer regarding the CPAP specifications. While most modern CPAP machines are FAA-approved for in-flight use, having a copy of your manufacturer’s FAA-approval status will help to quickly clear any confusion that may arise.
•Failing to provide the above details in a timely manner may result in a denial of this equipment at the airport for which Regent Seven Seas Cruises nor our local ground operator will be responsible for.
Documents and Visa Requirements
•A passport valid for at least six months beyond your travel dates is required.
•Please consult your local embassy to confirm any visa requirements specific to your nationality for Peru and Ecuador.
